ETHERIOM: Where Sound Begets Form

Introducing Deborah Goudreault’s ETHERIOM; the next in a series of New Works and new insights from an Artist devoted to recovering Nature’s concealed identity and the totality of a universally networked Self.

 “My life’s purpose is not to destroy what we consider our ‘absolute’ concepts and ‘absolute’ worlds, rather to clear an opening for a universally networked Nature of greater human and cosmic totality to emerge. About ETHERIOM

In our physically sensed world, light is life, but for those who know how to listen from within in an instant of perfect silence, there is also a sound which precedes and permeates every form and a harmony which evokes every living substance.  ETHERIOM invites us into that dimension where such a luminous and refined sound becomes perceivable, and around us we feel its waves condensing and coagulating as they give birth to every gaseous, liquid and solid form in Nature. In fog enshrouded reflections of trees floating in subtle waves on the surface of solitary waters, we share the Artist’s perception of a nature not yet rooted in the Earth, but en route to being as a magnetic symphony of cosmic expression played in a realm of transcendental sound. Rather than living another experience within the conditioned limits and separateness of dense physical objects, we are swept into a wider and subtler view of elements not yet woven into form, whose unity becomes even more compelling than their eventual individuality. As ETHERIOM reaches into a dimension before the ground of concrete forms, what in Sanskrit is called Akasha (pronounced Aakaasha), we too are lost from our physical reality, not in a void of empty space but the common ground of all creation; the place of universal spawning and that which supports the causal forces of manifestation.

In an age when what was previously hidden becomes increasingly accessible and known by the whole of a technologically integrated humanity, ETHERIOM unveils impressions of an unexplored Akasha; where an unbroken and continuous Cosmic Energy and Intelligence flows beneath the veil of matter through a network of all-pervading ethereal fluid, and life begins as a seed of sound…long before it manifests as the ripe fruit of a physical seed or the union of ovum and sperm. In ETHERIOM we walk not amid the nature we know but behind the thin semipermeable membrane of the physical world; where living echoes weave the elements from intangible energies into tangible forms, and this subtle mechanism of Nature and the self carries the will of Consciousness into being.

While Akasha is yet beyond the measurable range of our material technologies and physical senses, it has been explored and continues to be researched through disciplined yogic and meditative practices for withdrawing the physical sense of hearing and cultivating a more refined inner sensory experience of sound. Because of its subtle nature, Akasha is often misunderstood to be synonymous with ordinary conceptions of space or sky; since those are the physically sensed boxes which best fit our existing view of it.  In our present cycle however, when expansion on every level is critical to our successful evolution, there is much to be learned from a more unbound conception of Akasha as that dimension of existence in which the complex operations of manifestation occur. ETHERIOM, resonating more as a creativity of consciousness than a creativity of matter, delivers impressions not of objects, but symbols of a multidimensional, universally networked Nature rendered to blow open the frames and bridge the empty gaps left by duality, and make way for new realizations and perceptions to take shape.

The Artist’s Akasha

The root of genuine artistic expression is always the experience of the self, and the Artist’s expression of ETHERIOM arises not from conditioned physical perceptions or aggressively contrived intentions, but on a blank canvas of neutral mind where with meditative clarity and gently opened awareness her inner experience of Akasha is reflected in the universally networked continuum of Nature; the personal and the impersonal as one and the same. The Artist’s knowledge of Akasha is an evolving one based on the inner experience of an ongoing practice of meditation and personal research of the effects of Sanskrit sound codes. Some of it is shared here, not as perfect intelligence but with great humility as a suggestion for further exploration.  The ETHERIOM images themselves are the essence of a pure experience of Akasha in nature, and in seeing them the mind can be actively transformed in a way that uniquely serves each Viewer without the effort of absorbing written concepts.  Their liberated forms may awaken a feeling of an already self-seen reality and ever-present knowledge buried and inactive in the self. The Artist’s Akasha is an inter-dimensional vibration complex that is not only the expression of Cosmic Energy and Intelligence but the dynamic support structure through which every life design is programmed and executed and whose access and actions are built upon a quantum-coded system of sound. Where there is creation there is vibration, and where there is vibration and audible or inaudible sound there is also Akasha. Every level of manifestation whether dense, subtle, harmonizing, or destructive is caused by a certain coded frequency of vibration which produces a type of Akasha, and a resultant configuration of color and radiance, elemental forces, and their condensation into matter and a designated sound sequenced form. DNA is a physical projection of part of the coding of this sequence but does not carry all the data or variables which govern and enable a manifest form. As the universe we perceive outside us is mirrored in the design of our human totality, Akasha too exists as the most subtle universal element and fundamental structure of both external manifestations and the architecture of the self.  Formed of primordial elements ourselves, we contain an interface through which Akasha operates in our individual causal network; where thoughts vibrating as frequencies engage the patterned elemental forces of our subtle body as feelings, and with greater and greater frequency affect every construct of our physical body. Like our genetic blueprint we are also formed with a blueprint of our relationship to the flow of primordial energies.  How open or blocked is the flow of energy related to these elements and the sound sensitive centers in which they operate establishes our baseline potentialities. But unlike DNA this blueprint is not fixed, we are ourselves a storehouse and a distributing point of Akasha, and many of our thought patterns and psychological attributes while seemingly predisposed can be transformed through working with Akasha to refine the flow of elemental energies through the sound sensitive subtle dimension of our human totality. There are those who have begun such work as a new psychology which relies on very pure and subtle frequencies of humanly produced sound and its accompanying Akasha as a login code.

Akasha and the physical elements which emerge from it and return upon disintegration, are not only the building blocks of manifestation, but resources for continued human evolution and there is much study yet to be done in a more expanded science of sound and light which researches how they can be consciously utilized to refine and advance the potentialities of the self throughout our life cycle.  We are interacting with and affected by Akasha all the time.  In every sound in our environment there is a connection to Akasha; an action which precedes audible sound and an effect we absorb through the space of silence which follows it and into the space of our own being. Without knowing more, we can elevate what Akasha has influence over us and shapes our physical and mental form by selecting what we listen to or the images which resonate around us. Noise pollution is detrimental not solely because of its physical effect on our hearing apparatus, but because of the disharmonizing thoughts, feelings and physical reality set into motion by the environment of Akasha it evokes.  Silence as periods of non-speech or periods surrounded by natural versus mechanical sounds, although avoided by many, is very useful in purifying and elevating our relationship to sound and Akasha which is why time close to nature can not only be relaxing and restorative, but creatively empowering. Because the dynamic causal agent of life (referred to in Sanskrit as Prana) is carried on the air we breathe, and the element of air is an evolute of Akasha, there is a working connection between the two. Inhaling through the nose rather than the mouth before chanting mantras not only purifies the breath but refines the subtle frequency of sound produced and elevates the akashic effect. This is known in the ancient practice of Naada Yoga and mantra recitation where a specific code of sounds is used as an inner technology for accessing the etheric substratum of Akasha. Adept practitioners continue to refine their use of coded sounds to consciously magnetize the elemental principles where they begin to differentiate and overcome the impeding forces of patterned thoughts or feelings which may limit an individual’s highest expression and potential. This is also why when we enter a temple, cathedral or sacred space where chanting and divinely directed prayer has continued for centuries, we can feel uplifted. They are a storehouse for a more pure Akasha, and its effect is elevating. We too have within ourselves a storehouse of the purest Akasha, where the frequencies of our most evolved self resonate. Although it is undetected by physical science and concealed behind doors within the self we have yet to open, one day we will acknowledge its function as we do the glandular system today. We will understand how it draws potentiality out of an evolving, universally networked Self, like Akasha in the space outside us draws potentiality from waves of energy and facilitates their sequenced concentration from subtle into dense material forms in the creation of an infinitely expanding universe.

Something New Revealed

Part of the work of every human is to transcend our perceived limits. What if to achieve this, and transcend our path of physical suffering and conflict, we are universally networked to the waves programmed and flowing through a dimension referred to as Akasha.  What if we function in a space like ETHERIOM and, innately interfaced with this dimension of existence, we have the means to attract the purest, most luminous Akashic vibrations and to incorporate them within to nourish our thoughts, feelings, flesh and blood until we become a radiant body of Cosmic Energy and Intelligence. This realm and the study of how to engage the forces and frequencies acting primordially through it is a relatively unexplored source of transformational awareness worthy of the devotion of future science and all those seeking to refine their experience of sound and our human totality. ETHERIOM helps bring us closer to realizing that future by loosening the bounds of what we consider a fractured reality of separate finite forms and the conditioned schemas which define our experience of Nature and the Self. It opens space for new questions, and potential for understanding how we operate multidimensionally, how we are created in form, and the mechanism of our own universally networked capacity to create as a power not merely of physical manifestation but of self-healing and evolution. Rather than living solely in a dense material orientation, ETHERIOM says, “Come here with me, you can expand beyond that perception, spread wider the subtlety of your experience and change the depth of your awareness and human potential.” It says, “Find within yourself where the principle of motion is born out of stasis and becomes air, the diversification of energy becomes fire, the principle of dissolution - water, and that which sustains our finite individuality – earth, for there you will also be at the door of more infinite Energy and Intelligence.” It asks us to see more clearly the unfathomable beauty and integrative complexity in how the world is created, how beautifully we are created, and where greater human potential lies for transforming the effects of how poorly we have treated both. It encourages us to more sensitively discern what sounds as well as images we surround ourselves with because, consciously or unconsciously, we are co-creators of our own existence. Deep in ETHERIOM’s layers of undefined forms, is the experience born idea that whether we sustain the limits of a fixed and finite self-identity or realize the unlimited potential of our multidimensional universally networked human totality is not determined solely by our DNA, but the Song whose chords are written in Akasha and whose melody notes we ourselves compose with our thoughts, feelings and actions, or more consciously in a coded language of universal sound. As ETHERIOM’s color images dominated by yellow/gold and green, and high intensity cyan toned mono prints fill the hemispheres of our brains, we are awakened from our long imbedded patterns of seeing. We may not feel the all permeating waves of Akasha like the Artist, but we feel something new revealed.  Perhaps because it echoes and magnifies a call within each of us to redefine the limits of what we know of reality and the self; a call to advance a human totality with the inner capacity to harmonize and excel in our new age of outer technological innovation. At the very least, where ETHERIOM takes us beyond a world defined by the known frequencies and familiar forms of material objects, we are one step closer to answering that call. We are more ready to take an inevitable leap beyond the past.
