Kundalini Conception

“Kundalini Conception” is a complex product of the Artist’s intuitive perception and inner experience of what is often referred to as the transformative and self-evolving mechanism of Kundalini energy. While they reflect the Artist’s capacity for and process of understanding the energetic matrix of our multidimensional, universally networked human totality, they serve to translate her penetrating awareness and experience of a subtle universal network of Energy and Cosmic Intelligence felt operating within our infinitely evolving human totality and comprehended in the architecture of all being in the nature of Earth and the space beyond. As we expand our physical presence in the solar system, “Kundalini Conception” reminds us that while we are aided by technological advancements and increasingly driven to explore space, it is not merely to conquer, dominate or survive as a species, but to understand we are more than separate finite beings, and that preparation for and understanding of a matrixed existence must begin here on Earth through accessing the potentiating and harmonizing dimensions yet dormant in the network of the self. Each “Kundalini Conception” image is a spark sent to ignite a greater fire of inquiry, courage, and commitment to burning through the preconceptions and physical sensory conditioned limits of our human identity and realizing more of our unlimited, universally integrated human potential.

Transmigration

“Whistlings of death and circles of secret music make the adored body, like a specter, rise and expand…Life’s own colors dance and drift around the Vision in the making. Crystal arms, once bones, clothed with an amorous new Light.” -Arthur Rimbaud

I find in outer nature only countless equivalents of our own subtle human nature. “Transmigration” is a study of ocean wave imprints as they relate to the wave form of our own cycle of being. Impressions of lunar forces through tidal waters on sand become organic hieroglyphics conveying a story of Infinite life moving in and out of human form. The upward streaming energetic entities in these images rise from physical phenomena into tangible equivalents of the transmigration of the soul; the atma or seed of Infinite Consciousness within the Self that does not cease with the physical body. In these subtle reverberations of the ocean’s pulse and endless waves, “Transmigration” attunes Viewers to the more universal wave of birth, physical life, death and rebirth. Without crossing the threshold of death, they are able to migrate across the known barriers of time and space to where life becomes less matter and more Light, and we become a conscious part of the frequency of life itself.

What depicts souls leaving the last fragments of their physical shell for life as Light, free of perceived limits, and aware of their true Nature as part of all existence however, is also an equivalent for liberation from self-limitations in this human life. If we are to advance thoughts and actions which truly serve and elevate ourselves and others, we must shed the frames which limit our human identity like we shed our flesh in death. As the soul migrates from one existence to another, so too we are capable of advancing our human existence by continuing to evolve a more subtle experience of Nature and our own human nature. Soaring on notes of liberation and transcendence, “Transmigration” makes the energy and thought of transformation and transcending past limits accessible to the Viewer, and sings of our vast untapped potential for evolving the self here and now. It evokes feelings of being connected to and uplifted by that unlimited part of who we are, which is neither body nor mind, and is a Light to all those seeking release from the fears and misunderstanding which prevent us from realizing the power and purpose of our human totality. To the extent that it challenges and frees the mind from its conditioned preconceptions, “Transmigration” helps establish a new canvas within the Viewer and the opportunity to create a new reality liberated from our misinterpretations of life as exclusively separate, one-dimensional and finite.

“Transmigration” delivers an inspiring cosmic message through the physical field of Nature that empowers us with a more unlimited conception and impressions of who we are.  The images serve not only as fine art, but as tools for transmigrating the self into its more unlimited totality of being; a Self of both finite form and Infinite Consciousness. No matter how long these seed images may take to germinate in the individual Viewer, it is certain they will no longer observe, think and feel in the same way.

AURA GRANITICA: Light in the Kingdom of Stone

“Granite cannot burn because its aura is fire.”  -Blavatsky

"I come from a womb of dark rocks...and he who summoned me from the stone will, I think, be my guide." -Goethe

Growing up in “the Granite State” of NH, I was never far from a sense of existing in that stone’s field of Light.  It was always pulsing in a layer closely beneath my feet, or appearing suddenly in the woods before me in a megalithic revelation of itself, telling the story of Earth as part of a universe that transcended time. Years in Manhattan and Arizona served me well, but the call of the granite was relentless. It was as Goethe said, “I come from a womb of dark rocks…and he who summoned me from the stone will, I think, be my guide.” Over time my sensitivity to the subtle dimensions of Light and my visual perception had been refined through meditative practices, and when I returned to the field of granite and its force, I would see beyond its surfaces; where radiance beyond physical light spoke in luminous vibrations.  I would feel their resonance re-tune my own subtle body to more perfect harmonies.

Working closely with granite, I have come to appreciate with greater clarity that all that occurs within the earth also occurs more subtly within our own human forms. Out of great fiery chambers in deep earth, crystallization and segregation into more dense liquid and solid layers and forms, granite brings us closer to an understanding of both our planet as a living entity and the depths of our own human totality. Granite is a philosopher’s stone of sorts; one transformed through all the elemental states as akasha or space, air, fire, water, and earth and may therefore hold some key to transforming the energetic capacities of those elements in ourselves. Granite may lead us to more closely examine how these elements as subtle energies and primordial forces in the universe of matter operate in and evolve the multifaceted nature of our own human system.

The long slow process of becoming granite is not so different than the long slow process of realizing our human totality; a process we have only scratched the surface of. As we clamber over the mountains of our own human advancement, we are not so unlike the granite which has been created out of its primordial elements, made fluid by fire and crystallized into a form which carries the energy of its beginning. We know from granite the story of the Earth’s fire because it projects the energy of its inaccessible source, yet still unknown is the internal reservoir of fire and Light within ourselves; the subtle energy Matrix which connects us to all life as Consciousness and where like granite we image and carry the energy of our Source.

Likely due to the high amount of quartz in its composition, granite has both piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties whereby electricity or Light energy may be produced when subjected to compression or heat as in their formative process, and retain these energies generated during crystallization and solidification.  Because of these properties granite may induce amplification and purification of the energy field in which it exists, and function as a medium for the focusing, storage, transfer and transformation of energy. Blavatsky, one of many in diverse fields magnetized to the study of granite was contemplating its subtle energetic properties when she said, “Granite cannot burn because its aura is fire.”

The energies of the stone or mineral kingdom are no more universal than the energies within ourselves, yet most still find it easier to look for answers outside us in the core of the earth, at the depths of the sea, or in the far reaches of space. These outer regions and objects remain, for many, the exclusive keepers of Consciousness and the answers to resolving our own perceived limits. Whatever any stone, ocean or planet reveals, however, even with the most advanced technologies will never be the whole answer we seek, because outer nature exists not to separate us from, but to point us back toward the universe of our own self. When I look for the Light in the Kingdom of Stone, it is to magnify how it mirrors the elements in the facets of our own self. I enter their “aura of fire” and focus my concentration beyond their surface forms, waiting again for a megalithic revelation which points us back toward an experience of the Infinite energies which Light our own finite bodies. In the presence of granite, I listen for the omnipresent Sound which opens our own capacity for transformation and self-illumination, so with our own radiance and a fire of more unlimited consciousness, we too can elevate the field in which we exist. While rocks were photographed, the subject of the images is not rocks, as in all LMI there is always a dimension beyond the surface physical object and those dimensions are as unlimited as the mind of the Viewer.

Songs on the Shore of Twilight

“Here, I walk the sea line on the shore of twilight, where sun’s last oblique call vibrates the faint and thinning remnants of waters reclaimed by the moon; where it lights their letting go of rock and dune to fill the night’s receding waves with what we have emptied of ourselves. Over every footprint of fear and dreaming, desire and despair we leave to be transformed and made purer in the wake of the sea, I feel the waters move, like blood drained back through hidden veins between temporal disorder and waking stars, pulled by the rhythm of life’s eternal flow. In this rhythm the bleeding waters find their voice, sounding notes that carve the surface beneath my feet with devotional hymns to the great blue womb in which they are born and reborn to wash the world in tides of immutable newness. They are both a song of letting go and a song of universal union where elements meet and merge in one essential nature; a healing song to which hands too rise up from the sand; the hands that make the world and live unseen in the skin of earth and matter. The hands that translate forms and words, and project numbers and energies in luminous points that touch our own. They are each a message of cosmic consciousness; a light for balance to find its way amid the chaos; for peace to remember the wholeness of being, and for each of us to discover our own totality; our sun, our moon and the line between, both our physical and subtle dimensions and that which draws us up through finite mind to our innate infinity. These are images made in the resonance of that healing song, which delivers us from exile and solitude, broken and never returning, to harmonized oneness; ever-present and free of dis-ease and suffering.” -Deborah Goudreault

Collectors of these prints will find the impressions of natural water carved forms in sand reliefs, referred to as "Hydroglyphs" by the Artist, facilitate a more pure and harmonized state of being with greater reverence and responsibility for the element of water on our planet and within our own human nature.

Arbor Vitae

Disembodied Barns

“In a loft I got to know the world.” -Arthur Rimbaud

In what seemed the unlimited expanses of my family’s great barn loft, I learned that even as a child, my experience need not solely be that of a child’s; that there is something more to each of us, a Consciousness which seeks to be realized if we can only practice listening in the space of silence. If we can meet the veils of dust and shadow and see only the inscrutable radiance of lights colliding. In stolen hours of solitude, seated on bales of fresh cut hay while sun fell gently through the cupolas in circles round me, I resumed what seemed a familiar journey to understanding the totality of our humanity, the sensed mysteries of the unseen and the nature of our connection to all that exists. Stronger than all the objects I could touch or the call of places real and imagined, I felt the Light within; a subtle network of energies supporting me like the matrix of beams that formed the structure of my humble barn cathedral; my bridge between the finite and the Infinite.

I perceive every Barn loft I photograph as a shrine to the inseparable connection between man and Nature. They are places where, if we listen closely, a seed of such understanding still resonates; some sense that the forces and cycles of earth, sun, moon and the whole of the universe operate as synchronous energies within us as well as outside us. I also feel the lofts as lost spaces of dormant purpose and unvisited Light like that which exists in so much of humanity at present. It is my hope that images of these spaces will support those seeking to explore the unvisited aspects of the Self and uplift our capacities beyond the repetitive pattern of constructing lives which are contrary to our innate rhythms and inevitably create the disharmony, scarcity, conflict and dis-eases that limit our highest expression.

No matter how many technologies we develop and apps we download, when we are out of tune with the physical, mental, and energetic totality of who we are, we are like fine instruments uncoordinated with the rest of the orchestra.  The notes we strike are discordant and the world is a harsh and threatening symphony because we are paced differently from it, having broken contact with our innately shared causal roots. The barn loft images are not symbols of a forgotten agricultural past, or a desire to romanticize that life, but guideposts for the future.  They are a message in light that waiting within the old barn walls of our struggling physical bodies, are aspects yet undiscovered. They sound a call to go within, into the silent lofts of self, the most subtle realms of our being and transform our awareness of who we are. They are the inspiration and promise that as we climb the dark stairs of our inner network of evolving Self, toward a more infinite experience of our finite flesh, we will meet a new light of understanding and our innate capacity to weaken the structure of our human fears, harmonize our individual and collective lives, and dissolve the limits to our human potential.

Between Lokas : Eyes into the Self (in Cosmic Light collection)

“Between Lokas serves as kindling for every faintly sparking inner fire of aspiration; to stir a flame of feeling that there is something essential yet to be attained within, beyond what we now know as the self.” –Deborah Goudreault

This series of images and text (See "Meditation Between Lokas" below), offers Viewers a space to imagine, feel, conceive of, and explore who we are as more than the perceived limits of our separate finite minds and physical bodies. A space to open up to something beyond our conditioned human identity and redefine the essence, power and purpose of our humanity.

“Between Lokas” considers the concept developed in Vedic literature of an evolving universe composed of 14 planes or dimensions in which existence can take place.  They are divided into 7 lower and 7 higher; the higher consisting of increasingly less dense matter and more refined energetic frequencies, available knowledge, capacity and consciousness. Lokas are most often interpreted as outer destinations of psychological and spiritual relevance, with Bhur Loka the lowest of the higher lokas designated as the physical or Earth plane and the others beyond space time. “Between Lokas” conceptualizes the Vyarthis or 7 higher planes of outer existence as equivalents to a parallel network of higher or more subtle dimensions within the self; a new instrument or plane of knowledge and the potential of more refined energies, capacities, and consciousness existing as a part of our human totality. The images may be viewed as eyes into the Self and the subtle inner dimensions and planes of knowledge we have yet to realize.

Today what was once thought to be myth, or ancient wisdom teachings cloaked in imagery and later misrepresented in the religious concepts of heaven and hell, have curious connections to physics’ study of quantum fields beyond the field we inhabit and its theories of a communicating network between them. We may through current science be close to understanding how such alternate fields of experience and knowledge exist as places in space; and how a multi-verse could exist within the physical universe we perceive. It is not surprising that physical science continues to expand its boundaries into the realms of the unknown and meet some points of intuited ancient wisdom along the way.  However, the significance of “Between Lokas” as a collection does not rest in further illuminating our experience of outer Nature, but in bringing curiosity and new perspective to the connection between outer Nature and our own human nature. It is a bridge, not to unknown dimensions of the universe, but between our past and future knowledge of the inner dimensions of our human totality.

Ordinary human perception is turned outward and shaped by the physical senses, but for all the advances gained through our study of external phenomena, their transformative power to harmonize, heal and uplift our shared existence will yet be limited unless they also turn us inward toward discovery of a more expanded and integrated understanding of our own human totality. This also applies to photographic impressions of Nature and physical phenomena. Underlying this collection is the premise that whatever exists in the outer universe and its infinite planes and dimensions, exists in or is attainable through the Self. If outer worlds of infinite potential lie waiting to be accessed and integrated through some interfacing network, whether they are the lokas of Vedic teachings or the quantum fields of science, how does this correlate with subtle dimensions within the self and our continued ascension as beings of increasingly refined Energy and Intelligence? What is the interfacing and communicating system within our human totality through which all material and immaterial fields become available for evolving our mind and capacity? Even with advancing outer technologies and our ability to substantiate the existence of alternate fields of being through quantum calculations, it is quite probable that only in identifying and integrating the equivalents of these fields within our own selves, and refining our own frequency and field that we will have actual access to them.

“Between Lokas” is a projection of feeling, form, intuition and Light that stands on its own as art, but also elevates our dialogue of human advancement, not as a metaphor for escaping the challenges of Earth by relocating to a more advanced or harmonized field of existence, but for no longer accepting a solely finite human identity and transcending our present limits by discovering new operating fields of potential within. Where the ordinary mind may recoil upon entering the inner depths of who we are, seeing only darkness and fearing it may lose the conditioned self it has built its reality around, “Between Lokas” translates a confidence in the universal Light; Cosmic Energy and Intelligence, networked within every human being and takes our hand and shows us the way to advance beyond the threshold of our unknown inner obscurity. The Collection is intended to illuminate the most difficult first step toward evolving the self, and soften the depths of the inner void and its apparent silence, not because of any specific ideology but because it is the passage to a greater human existence. In each gateway image is the message, “That we are more than we appear to be is not something we should fear.” To say that we could all rise together to some super-mind state tomorrow is naïve, but the capacity to embody a higher plane of Consciousness is innate to all humanity. “Between Lokas” projects hope in our yet unrealized potential; hope that new powers of Consciousness, new faculties of perception, new Intelligence, and a universality in action in which every individual excels exist as the realizable possibilities of our human totality if we take individual and collective responsibility for their unfoldment.  At a time when many humans are overwhelmed and distracted by a complex outer matrix of merging conditions, “Between Lokas” serves as kindling for every faintly sparking inner fire of aspiration; to stir a flame of feeling that there is something essential yet to be attained within, beyond what we now know as the self.

"Meditation Between Lokas"

(Artist’s Verbal accompaniment to “Between Lokas”Visual images)

“I am guided by a Light within; first as distant sparks and luminous bursts, then lightening-like networks of more sustained and immutable force calling my mind to open to what exceeds it. What does exceed it? What part of me belongs to a higher Nature? The question drains my intellect and weakens my desire for all else but this perfect Light. This Light that comes when I have so tired of my limits that every once impenetrable wall of fear and conditioned reason crumbles before me, and I am free to step into the darkness within, toward the distant radiance of my unknown dimensions. This Light in which I am finally free to surrender to whatever aspect of Self lies hidden in the tabernacle of my innermost sanctuary.  It quenches a thirst neither the sweetest waters nor precious gold, nor love could quench. I follow it away from the dense forms and gravity of earth, afloat the waters of a celestial sea, and through a maelstrom of fiery rays that reduce the past to fading coals and give what remains a diamantine purity and clarity.  So subtly embodied, I am easily lifted through hexagonal currents of air, and in a circuitous dance along a chain of silver waves rise into the vast reaches of an undefinable space.  It is a landscape void of matter, yet teeming with life made whole and consecrated through its conscious and unimpeded access to the Source Field of all existence. It is a plane where time and space lose their meaning and one Infinite expression of Universal Energy and Intelligence reverberates in a language of cosmic Sound.  It permeates every thought and gives birth to radiant entities with creative and sensory potentialities still dormant and buried in the unexplored depths of our human forms. It is a window to the womb of the universe, a nebula which gives birth not only to stars but to stars within the self, for with every pulse of life I feel the radius of my being expand, further and further into domains of unfathomed capacities until I excel beyond all perceivable limits of mind and matter. Without temporal boundaries, the reality of my once seemingly finite self becomes an inseparably merged synthesis of the Cosmic Energy and Intelligence of its omnipresent Source. As Light, resonance, and witness, I stand on the bow of the heavens and see all life is as one. The duality and polarity of sun and moon, of male and female, and of self and other which ruled conception and creation on Earth resolves in an infinite and inevitably entangled union of being. I remain in that realization of Infinite Self for what may be an eternity or the length of a suspended breath as if they are one and the same.  Then I am led back through the originating channel of Light, past the noumenal gate of manifestation and returned to the world of phenomena.

Vibrancy fades in the flow of sensory data and the re-emergence of physical light as subtle energies condense into the constituents of known matter.  The one Sound grows faint too as the mind remembers its competing desires and attachments. But even in the finite, the essential, timeless and unchanging Self which transcended the physical still carries enough of the unveiled Light to nurture the seed of Consciousness. Enough to keep awake a perception of the interplay of forces pervading the matrix of all creation. I feel the sun, the earth and the seas in their place outside me again, but echoing within as the elements of fire and earth, water and air. I recall their qualities as intersecting generators of transformation, and the atomized words like keys which opened and empowered them. Their vibrations continue without ending, resonating from a less tangible but ever-present dimension of Self, where mind re-connects with its highest expression and radiance grows into a new order of existence.

What I learned between lokas is true within the self and common to all planes of existence. It is not the destination which is infinitely luminous, but how much of the totality of your infinite dimensions you are able to master and engage in every moment of being.  There will always be hierarchies of mind and material and spiritual attainment as we each evolve in a way that serves the fulfillment of our unique purpose, however we are all created with the same capacity to be embodiments and transmitters of the Light of a more infinite Energy and Cosmic Intelligence. We need only take responsibility for unveiling its presence within, and once accessed also understand that we are not here to live as the ascetics of other worlds or so aloof a visionary that we cannot help humanity or ourselves. With whatever we attain in the immaterial dimensions of Self, with what experience we are given of a more Infinite reality, we are to create a new foundation for thought, feeling and actions.  We are to project what we can of the Light of Consciousness as a foundation for harmonizing our relationship with Nature and transforming human nature for the perfection of our shared existence on Earth as a platform to further evolve and excel as an interplanetary species.”

DISSOLUTION

“Dissolution” endeavors to expand both our perception of the phenomenal world and understanding of our human totality.  With reverence for Nature’s subtle dimensions, the images transform coastal New England fog from an atmospheric occurrence into and experience beyond known forms and time space boundaries, closer to the forces connecting and empowering our existence. They deliver us from the tangible to the intangible, from the limited to the unlimited and an essential spaciousness and infinite vastness where the immaterial illuminates the material and Consciousness reverberates with a presence equally as undeniable as matter.

The dissolution of dense natural phenomena to subtle forms and formlessness is explored in these images as an equivalent study of the primordial energies of earth, water, fire/energy, air and space and their dense and subtle dimensions operating within the physical, feeling and thought fields of the self. Each impression of earth becoming increasingly less dense, dissolving into water, merging with vapors in air, and rising into unbound space also carries the message that it is not only in death that we have the opportunity to let go of our limits.  “Dissolution” is an invitation for Viewers to consider that what we allow of the past to dissolve, what we cleanse from the body and mind becomes the opening for new Light, new life and new possibilities to recreate, potentiate, and reform who we are as part of an infinitely evolving existence. As “Dissolution” blurs the ordinary landscape of conditioned reality, feeling as seemingly silent as their water’s surface is still, we are set adrift as part of the matter dissolving in the unknown spaces of its images; to observe, release, purify, and let go of what no longer serves us, and further penetrate the veiled depths and unknown potential of the self.

The opaque and immeasurable reaches of space which dominate “Dissolution” create a void, but not an inanimate one. With an invisible aesthetic, the images preserve space as a ground field for subtle forces of implied movement, transformation and upliftment to form and be felt. Instead of projecting more familiar objects and predetermined meaning into an already overloaded Viewer mind, the vaccuumous quality of the images offers space for the mind to empty itself; to be drawn in like air in a long deep breath. It is a space for expanding beyond the known; an interval for contemplation, intuition, and feeling, and a domain in which to evolve and reshape what we know of the self. In a world where fear and conflict prevail, part of the self-illuminating power of these images lies in their unconditional neutrality and the Viewer knowing that no matter what thoughts or feelings are amplified or released in the encounter, the space remains infinite, undisturbed and perfectly harmonized. As such, an inner experience of “Dissolution” may allow new doors of self-awareness to open and be a liberating bridge to deeper security and wholeness of being. Transformation is integral to dissolution, and opening the power and will to realize our responsibility and potential for transforming the self and the future of humanity as a whole it is at the root of these images. Being less about how life appears on the surface and more about what it is in itself, “Dissolution” leaves space for an engaging encounter with Nature and the elusive depths of our own nature.

Limulus: Surviving Time

"To it the creation is the friend whose embracing awakes me." -Walt Whitman

Note to Readers: Thankfully since the writing of this 5 years ago, legislators and a growing number of active supporters have contributed to horseshoe crab conservation efforts, as well as companies like Charles River Labs @ criver.com and the work of Dr. Norman Wainwright who are answering the call for a crab bleeding alternative with dedicated efforts to produce a comparable horseshoe crab gene-based, recombinant LAL.

It is rare that I would be drawn to photograph other species, or any subject we have conditioned awareness of preferring more subtle extracts of Nature.  However, while exploring the natural forces of coastal New England, the limulus found a way to reach me with a message of the consequences of humanity’s unending acts of destruction committed in the name of self-proclaimed advancement. They spoke to the mind of my heart in cries I could not ignore. They were cries I felt should be heard; cries intended to awaken us to the great difference and growing disparity between outer technological advancement and inner human advancement; cries that our survival depended more on evolving our understanding of our human totality than all of our combined outer technologies. I have now spent several weeks with them over a 6-year period, watching as they rode the high tides inland to spawn. I sat with them among seaweed covered rocks, inseparably coupled as the May moon stretched itself into fullness and moved the waters within them and without to break in perfect synchrony upon the shore. I waited as they buried their future in the sand in ever decreasing numbers, still with the courage to swim from the depths of the sea and rise again and nod to me. Apart from the otherworldly architecture of their forms, they had the presence of a great Teacher, shaped by a deep prophetic silence in whose space it seemed they carried the frequencies of an ancient wisdom that long predated our human existence. I wanted to speak for them in a way that they could not.

We are the most evolved species on this planet, but our nature is not a separate dominant one as our egos would misconstrue. We are an integrated network of being and exploitation at any point in that network deserves to be brought to Light. Limulus have lived an estimated 450 million years and that we should now become the cause of their extinction is unacceptable. “Limulus: Surviving Time” is a collection about the human threat to the existence of an ancient species, but also about what limits our consciousness and the capacity to harmonize our relationships with nature, ourselves and humanity as a whole. If we persist in looking at Nature and its life forms solely as separate resources for unlimited consumption and potential profitability; if even human beings are identified as “human capital” rather than an integral part of our own individual existence, we will be the cause of our own extinction. There is no justifiable exploitation, either for individual gain or for the common good. Every exploitative act we have engaged in has ultimately been the act of exploiting the self, and individually and collectively we suffer the loss and imbalance of our insatiable and unsustainable practices.

Limulus have been named vulnerable to extinction due primarily to the global harvesting practices of the pharmaceutical and medical device industries, and secondarily to eel and conch fisheries who use them as bait, as well as increasing human consumption and the rapid loss of natural habitats in Asia. They are hunted and bled because a property of their copper based blue blood; limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL and TAL from the species derived in Asia) is considered indispensable for the detection of endotoxins (a component of bacteria) in the manufacturing of immunizations, pharmaceutical drugs and any medically implanted or intravenous devices. In the United States, biomedical companies collect adult horseshoe crabs, remove approximately 1/3 of their blood and then release them alive with an estimated 15-30% mortality rate. In Asia 100% of the hundreds of thousands harvested are bled to death and their body parts sold for human consumption.  Current excessive and lethal harvesting practices cannot support the global demand for LAL/TAL according to a 2015 peer reviewed paper authored by ERDG (Ecological Research and Development Group). The demand for LAL/TAL will outgrow the supply of limulus blood at its current rate of harvesting. (I will continue to research and reference more current data).

Science and industry have justified the killing of one species for the survival of another, but what about when that lesser species and once indispensable solution no longer exists? All our killing will have created is a new problem, and we will be without the resource which may have existed to guide us to a more permanent and sustainable solution. “Limulus: Surviving Time” brings critical attention to the accepted limits of current biomedical science and our supposed inability to conceive of solutions that are harmonizing rather than destructive and predatory. We can venture into the vast reaches of space, but we cannot create a synthetic compound with properties equivalent to limulus blood? It is more likely that companies have found it less expensive in the past to harvest the limulus than research an alternative. But if this creature is so unique and has remained like a living fossil while all else on the planet has evolved in form over millions of years, is it not likely that there is more to the limulus’ value and purpose than one isolated component in its blood and has been waiting all this time to fulfill its true purpose?  One need not look far for more reasons to preserve it.  It has immune properties and an ability to recognize bacterial invaders that far exceed our own at a time when our human immune systems are under constant siege, weakened by stress and complex environmental factors, and the field of immunotherapy begins to emerge as a substantial cancer treatment alternative. The visible and UV light sensitivity of their visual sensory system with cones and rods 100 times the size of humans, and their synchrony with circadian and infradian rhythms, may yet inform advances in understanding and refining our own sensory system, and help restore to harmony an anxiety prone, mood and sleep disordered human population whose electrically lit lifestyle, fixed day and night on glaring computers and TV screens has interrupted the normal rhythms of our physiological processes, especially our light sensitive glandular system.

What we gain in harvesting limulus blood and consuming them may be extremely short sighted, with their greatest contribution to our health and longevity on this planet yet to be discovered.  “Limulus: Surviving Time” brings new focus to the conservation challenge and global effort required to protect one of the oldest species on Earth and perhaps ourselves in the process.

 Water: The Second Element

(TEXT under development)

NOTE Regarding All Collections: Although the Artist serves the Light with deep devotion and commitment, Light Mind Images are not created solely for the Artist’s self-satisfaction.  They are rendered as inspiration and support for the expanded awareness of every Viewer and as catalysts for human advancement. What these images reflect of the Light and the Artist’s search for a more integrative and absolute Truth offers hope and a window of freedom to challenge and dissolve our pre-conceived ideas, conditioned feelings and perceptions, and to evolve what we know of Nature and our human totality. We have too long bound and framed our human identity and potential in past experience, impressions, and systems of belief. Light Mind Images give the Viewer a space in which to release that limited identity, and awaken their more infinite dimensions.

Some Light Mind Images are given Sanskrit titles. Unlike our present languages which evolved to communicate meaning, Sanskrit’s root purpose was to communicate energy as sound. Somewhat like the practice of acupuncture Sanskrit, when correctly pronounced, makes precise energetic connections each time the tongue touches the nerve endings of the upper palate. These sounds are being re-discovered, researched and integrated into many current meditative practices for refining the mind, and engaging aspects of reality that are more than conceptual meaning or what is physically sensed. Because Light Mind Images are more space led than object led and interpret Light as a dense manifestation of sound, Sanskrit resonates in close harmony with what the Artist perceives and endeavors to reveal about Light, space, and a more unbound reality of being.
