Earth Day 2020: Ballad for a New Future

Written by Goudreault in 2017 as a “Song for Healing and Harmonizing Humanity and the Earth”, this was a message ahead of its time. Clearly it reads as a revelation of what was to come in this 2020 period of human challenge and transformation, but more than that…it planted ideas whose fruit would now be needed to feed the hearts and minds of a humanity separated from the life and people that once defined us; a humanity searching for new meaning and a vision of a future of greater possibility. In sharing this poem now Goudreault adds, “Regardless of how life appears on the surface and the painful shared loss of attachments, plans and patterns we are all experiencing and trying to process, now is not the time to give up on humanity or create more conflict and disharmony. It is a time to elevate and expand what it means to be human. I share this with my deepest love for all, that we may remain open, fearless, responsible and kind, and come through this having discovered new dimensions in a greater human totality and more harmonizing motives and unlimited potential within.”

Ballad For a New Future

Trends flow like winds that come and go;

The breezes and storms of mind’s desires,

While truth prevails, unseen, unchanging,

Uncolored by time as it onward sails.

Truth’s forever the fulcrum round which life spins,

The saber of wisdom sheathed in silence within,

‘til it speaks through a heart of intuitive sight

Or painful trials that lead us toward its Light,

Beyond the suffering of living apart

From the whole of our being which boundless reigns

To discover the universe, the Source of breath,

Where we end, where we start is in us always.

Now bodies once thought to be born of flesh,

by a Self as Consciousness we are called,

To both finite and infinite, seamlessly vibrate

A human totality as one with all.

The many yet sleep, the waking few

But it changes not what we must do for the slaves of matter and preconception,

Of machines that hold captive our hearts and our hope,

It is time to refine what weakens the self and to break the false ceilings that limit our growth.

The radiance of Earth and our destiny

Are made by how much of the Self we know,

How much we are willing to sacrifice to see beyond the dark,

To hear the songs of silence, and invoke the fires of our inner sun,

How much disease it takes before a greater wholeness is sought

How long it takes us to realize we embody riches that cannot be bought.

In mastering matter, how soon will we open the subtle channels through which life flows;

The inner interface connecting realms above and realms below,

How soon will our inner senses penetrate our surface depths,

The untold powers sealed in the unmet dimensions we possess,

How long will fear conspiring undermine security,

How long will we exploit each other and desecrate the land, the sea.

We are the network of the Light where Consciousness unfolds

In waves through integrated planes of self and so the world transforms,

And still we cry out to the skies for saviors to descend,

When it is there within ourselves that they have always been.

We see a vision in the stars of all that we have not,

And build our spaceships ere to rise so what more exists there can be caught,

But only in the space of minds will we ascend and come to know

A harmonizing Light we can upon an aching world bestow.

The light of stars, the light of moons, of planets, near and distant suns

Are woven into human form, our causes shared, our self as one.

Delve deep into what’s closest by, and the answers sought will be revealed,

For the Source of all existence is, within the self, concealed.
