Memorial Day Gift of Light
A Light Mind Image entitled "The Warrior’s Quest" was recently purchased as a gift for one of our nation’s elite Sub Mariners. His military efforts on our behalf will never be witnessed, for he has sacrificed a life in the light to serve a command and duty confined to the dark depths of our planet’s oceans, but the effects of his actions will undoubtedly help preserve much of what we take for granted. For this reason, I was honored to prepare a Light Mind Image for him, and on this Memorial Day share my deepest gratitude for his service and all those warrior souls who continue to serve humanity with unwavering devotion. There is not one moment where it goes unnoticed.
About the Image
"The Warrior’s Quest" is an abstract stone portrait which takes to heart the mental discipline required of Warriors called to defend the welfare of others and achieve something which for most would be unattainable. Its sharp angles and crevices follow the inner terrain underlying their bravery which refuses to give up and sees a way through every block, the strength to go forward without destroying their connection to Nature, humanity, or themselves, and the will to remember in the midst of conflict that they are making room for an eventual peace which can never be lost and a light which uplifts even the most degraded situations. This image reflects the intense complexities of navigating a responsibility to protect and destroy while also acting as a critical part of discovering what is intrinsically good about our human existence and how to share that in greater harmony with others.
A Universally Networked Experience
How do I see this you may ask…for me, everything in man is also in nature, even in stone, and sometimes I perceive our reflections there…our universal truths, and what we have yet to discover about the network of ourselves with greater clarity. In this way the unconditioned images of Nature in my work become portals for more deeply exploring the dimensions of our own human nature, and as such may best be left without words…to the minds of the viewers…to silently carry them across new thresholds and beyond the limits of their own past experience, perception, and awareness. I suppose you could say they are like subs for exploring beneath the surface of the self, where a more infinite depth of human understanding and potential waits in each of us as vast unchartered seas yet to be navigated.
