Pandemic Dialogues with the Sun
Excerpt from Goudreault’s “Pandemic Dialogues with the Sun” May 2020, Covid Sequestered in New Hampshire.
“Oh, unfailing Sun, I watch as you resurrect the trees once again from their barren trunks to an endlessly reaching canopy of life. We too are in need of transformation and renewal, a spark of Spring that brings forth the dormant life deeply rooted within us. Humanity’s bodies and minds grow tired of suffering, weakened by our unending pursuit of impermanent attainments, the weight of material accumulation and the imbalance created by our unquenchable desire for more. Despite all our historic and proudly documented outer achievements, we now see how easily we can fall, like Goliaths incapacitated by the tiniest life form; weaponless despite all the weapons we have engaged science and technology to create and sought competitively to possess. One by one the surface veils are receding and your call Surya*, the call to realize a greater human totality, once drowned out by our unrefined egos, is now an audible song of hope rising from our own unacknowledged depths. You have waited unconditionally, never abandoning us, never stopping to illuminate the sky of our existence or to opulently shine with unbound radiance within us. Yet we have only known ourselves as a shadow of Light, unaware of what must be done to open the doors of mind that separate us from a more elevated human experience and unlimited potential. Unaware we even held the keys to open those doors and to make more of the Light, Energy and Intelligence you embody, our own. Now from our vantage atop a great mountain of loss, we stand above the clouds of our illusions, illusions sacrificed with the hard-won grace of forced solitude. May your fire now meet us in the clearer air of the mind as it was always intended, to freely burn through our walls of fear and doubt, to purify our darkness, transform our misperception, energize our fields of vitality, and awaken awareness of our connection to all life. May your rays move unimpeded in the seven rivers of the self; over the rocks of our dense physical forms, through the waters of feeling, through the currents of breath, through the streams of intellect and inspiration, beyond all limits of the past and present, until there is nothing left but Light between us and the uncoiling reach of Consciousness.”
