"Anointed with Light"

What began as a straight photograph of a snow covered evergreen seedling on Mount Desert Island, Maine became, in the developing process, “Anointed With Light”. It is an image which breaks through conditioned notions of Christmas and celebrates the magnified Light of the Winter Solstice and December days which follow. It is an impression which contemplates the power of its energy to diffuse our perceived separateness, to strengthen our will to serve and share with others, and to realize that beyond the boundaries of geography, and religious and political ideologies, we each have a key role to play in harmonizing and elevating what is inescapably a universally networked human existence.

Christ translates as “the Anointed One, but in the period often designated as Christmas, we are all anointed regardless of birth or faith by a uniquely focused Light which opens wider the gateway of our hearts to a bridge of connectedness with Nature, each other, and the breath and Consciousness which enlivens us. This may make those who have known loss feel it more deeply, and those who have sustained isolating circumstances feel a more lonesome distance between themselves and others.  It may be pressurizing and inflame those who endeavor to maintain walls of conflict and separateness. The Light comes not to cause pain, however, rather to illuminate and heal.  It is a universal opportunity to refine our potential with expanded awareness of our human totality beyond the physical; a reality in which we are never alone, where light comes forth even from the darkest night, where prosperity not scarcity reigns, and the greatest gift we can give ourselves and each other is to excel in creating a more harmonized self and humanity.

May this image "Anointed With Light" guide you to a place where the Light of the season radiates within. May your thoughts, words and actions become pure projections of unconditional Love and inclusive Wisdom, flowing with an unlimited capacity to uplift yourself and the world...now and in the year to come.
